Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2025
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Meros (“Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Meros is a collaborative timeline application that lets you create, share, and build timelines of events and memories with others. Features include:
- Timelines with roles: owner, editor, and viewer
- Posts with rich media (images, video, audio), text, and tags
- Geolocation and location names for events
- Invite links to add collaborators to timelines
- Following and followers for public profiles
- Integrations such as Spotify (to attach songs) and image search
3. Account
You must sign in with Google to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and update it as needed.
4. Your Content
You retain ownership of content you create (timelines, posts, media). By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and your collaborators.
You represent that you have the rights to post your content and that it does not violate these Terms or any applicable laws.
5. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Service to: harass, abuse, or harm others; post illegal, defamatory, or infringing content; attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or other accounts; interfere with or overload the Service; or use it for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Timelines, Memberships & Invites
Timeline owners and editors may invite others via shareable links. Invites may have usage limits and expiration. By accepting an invite, you agree to the role assigned (editor or viewer) and to the timeline owner’s decisions about membership and content. You must not share invite links with people who are not intended to have access.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service uses third-party services (e.g., Google for sign-in, Spotify, image and geocoding providers). Your use of those features is also subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice (e.g., in-app or by email) where reasonably practicable. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service. For material changes that affect your rights in a significant way, we may also ask you to affirmatively accept the new Terms before continued use.
9. Advertising and Use of Data (Future)
We may in the future introduce advertising or other monetization that involves the use of user data (e.g., interests, usage patterns, or preferences). Any such use of your data for advertising or similar purposes will be opt-in only. We will not use your data for personalized or targeted advertising without your clear, separate consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time in your settings. If we introduce these features, we will describe them in our Privacy Policy and in-product, and we may add specific terms governing opt-in advertising.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or these Terms, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claims related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amounts you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim (or one hundred US dollars if you have not paid us).
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or for other operational, legal, or safety reasons. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy or as required by law.
13. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any part is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right does not waive it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Jersey, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
